I understand that you accidentally started downloading files from iCloud Drive, and now you're unable to stop that download. I'm happy to provide some help with this issue.

I would recommend turning off iCloud Drive, and then re-enabling it. Doing this will stop all processes related to iCloud Drive and temporarily remove access to those files until you sign in again:

1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Internet Accounts.

2. Select an account on the left, then do one of the following:

    

   Turn features on or off: Select each feature you want to use, and deselect any feature you don’t want to use.

Update to the latest version of macOS. Choose Apple menu  > About This Mac > Software Update. If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, choose Apple menu  > App Store. See if there’s an update available.

Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID. If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, click iCloud. Enter your Apple ID. When you sign in, iCloud is turned on automatically.

Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID. If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, click iCloud. Choose the apps—like Notes, Photos, and iCloud Drive—that you want to use with iCloud.
